About Me

I love what I do

My name is Melissa Esquivel, I'm from Saltillo, Coahuila, Mexico. I studied International Relations in Mexico and Business Management at the United States. I start my working experience as an intern in a Mexican consulate. After the ending of my program my formal experience start with an automotive company in where I worked for almost 5 years. After all those years and learnings I had to continue my journey and move to Queretaro city, and become a teacher and a student on Educational research.

I cannot deny that those days as a teacher were the best ones, my love for teaching grew up and became something unstoppable. Unfortunately and as everything in life, my journey was not ending and it took me back to the North!, Monterrey, without knowing that by start working for a construction worldwide company, the opportunity and challenge to learn, practice and get a certification on UX will become real.

I bet that if you get at this point, you might be asking yourself,  wait!...... consulate?, automotive?, teaching? and then User Experience design?. All those activities has no relation between them, what was she thinking?

Well, let me tell you that all those experiences help a LOT on UX:

"User experience" encompasses all aspects of the end user's interaction with the company, its services, and its products. - Don Norman, NNG-

International Relations between countries are hard, well,  personal and work relations are hard as well, and now try to design a product or service without understanding the relation of organizations, products and services among each other and /or end users?... Hard, right!.

Well in my case diplomacy helped me  to think first, analyze and before your interests, to think in the interest of what you represent and act according to what you say you represent. In User Experience you have to understand not only about technology and apps, it is key to understand what does the person and/or organization wants to accomplish and be coherent with what you design and what the end user will achieve trough the solution designed.

Thanks to automotive industry I was able to learn about processes and management, and also understand that improvements are not about creating new things, is about understand how something works, analyze it and then improve, save time, resources, money!.... but change understand first, manage it and learn from it.

And last but not least, being a teacher is the funniest and most enjoyable way to update yourself and learn from others day by day.

So at the end and thanks to all those activities, coworkers, processes and opportunities I was able to learn, grow, enjoy and love what I do, and still learning in Monterrey and at Silicon Valley area!.
